General Procurement Notice

1. Funding Details

The above named client intends to use part of the proceeds of a loan from/grant administered by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) towards the cost of the above named project.

Additional financing information:
A sovereign loan of up to EUR 25 million to Georgia, to be on-lent to the Autonomous Republic of Adjara for the benefit of Adjara Waste Management Company Ltd., owned by AR Adjara, responsible for the waste treatment and disposal in Batumi and the entire Adjara region. The Project will be support by a TC grant of up to EUR 0.7 million and an amount of up to EUR 3.2 million will be the local contribution in the form of the VAT.

2. Information on the Project

Project Description:
The Project addresses Batumi’s priority environmental challenges in solid waste management, and implements actions detailed in Batumi’s GCAP. The Project will improve the environmental and safety standards by making the new sanitary landfill operational while increasing its capacity to recover recyclable materials. The Project is expected to reduce the proportion of collected waste sent to landfill, and bring landfill operations in line with EU environmental standards, in line with the GrCF2 and Green Economy Transition 2.1 (“GET 2.1”). Moreover, the Project is aligned with the requirements of the Covenant of Mayors, which Batumi joined in 2011, and will support gender inclusion.
